April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th July, began taking piano and guitar lessons at age seven. Her passion for songwriting was sparked. The first song she wrote was called Different, which she wrote when she was 12 years old. At the age of 14, April devoted a great deal of time to writing songs and practicing her musical skills. Soon after she began taking excursions to write with her father, who lived in NY or LA. The month of April also included other themes in the book, Take My Hand, for those of her peers who struggled with disabilities, peer pressure or even suicidal thoughts. Lockhart has her own fanbase and is a lifestyle blogger with the popular Ilia Clean Beauty brand. She was born without her left hand, and it's part of who she's become, but it's far from the entirety of her story. Lockhart's profile on Instagram doesn't reveal her disability, but does not just focus on it. The main message? That we all contain multitudes that our identities are complex and that we are more than our physical selves. We don't want to allow that to make me feel like I'm to become a disability advocate where that's all I talk about, because there are many other aspects to me Lockhart shares her thoughts via video from her residence in Nashville. This doesn't influence my day-to-day way of life. I go about the same way as I always do and have come up with my own methods to adjust. However, it's a component of me so I think it's important to talk about. Lockhart's journey to acceptance of herself will be one that lasts a lifetime, but she has been a source of inspiration with regard to this. Lockhart admits that she goes through various phases in relation to her body. She felt uncertain about clothing choices which showed her arms. The fashionista wears what she loves and posts photos of herself in the outfits she chooses on social media. This is a long journey. most important thing that I'm not sure to arrive at, she says of self-love. This is a process, and I'm not sure you'll ever make it to the end. It's essential to have those within your circle who understand and can relate to you. They will be able to remind you that you're anxious about.
